" Architect. He is considered the father of Barcelona's urban layout. He was awarded the National Architecture Prize in 2006 for the whole of his long career."

He was born in Barcelona in 1925. After graduating in Architecture in 1951, he founded the Grupo R with Joseph Martorell. The aim of this group was to promote the new international architectural trends of the time. In 1962, together with David Mackay, they set up the MBM architecture studio with which they have developed their main projects. He is closely involved in politics and has been a member of the Socialist party of Catalonia, as well as occupying several various political posts. He was also a founder member of the Edicions 62 publishing group. In 1977 he was appointed Director of the School of Architecture in Barcelona. He played a key role in the projects carried out for the Barcelona Olympic Games, for which he created some of his most outstanding works: the Olympic Village and Port in Barcelona.
