She was born in Santianes de Pravia, Asturias in 1950 and settled in Madrid after spending several years in Valladolid, where she did some of her further studies. As well as teaching, she has been a member of the editorial board for magazines ‘El signo del gorrión’ (1992-2002); the Spanish-Portuguese ‘Hablar/Falar de Poesía’ since 1996; and ‘Los Infolios’ since 1987. She has written the text for art catalogues for exhibitions, such as ‘Vincent: La sombra debida’ (2005). She received the Ícaro Literature award for ‘Exposicion’ (1990). Theis was followed by the Leonor Poetry award (1993) for ‘Ella, los pájaros’, to which was added the National Poetry Award. One of her many translations was ‘Pier Pasolini, the religion of my time’ (1997).
