Date of birth

" Painter. His beginnings set him within the dominant informalism of the 60s, but he would evolve toward geometric abstraction during the following decade."

Born in Madrid in 1948, he studied Architecture and Fine Arts in Madrid and Valencia. He lived between Paris and Soller (Mallorca). After his beginnings linked to automatism, toward 1973 his painting shifts toward geometric abstraction, influenced by artists of Cuenca such as Gerardo Rueda and Gustavo Torner. During the 80s his abstract paining style splits in two, between great simplification and extreme naturalism. Passionate about the history of painting, he organises his works into a series referring to painters of modern- like Delacroix or Cézanne - or classicist - like Poussin - traditions. Likewise, he reinterprets cubism of still lifes and Mallorcan landscapes. Over recent years, his painting has evolved toward a greater deprivation of formality and color.
