"Flamenco dancer. Her international reputation has led to frequent dance performances in theatres all over Europe and America. One of her shows ran for a month on Broadway."

Manuela Hermoso Vargas was born in Seville in 1941. At the age of 16 she entered the academy of Enrique 'El Cojo' in Seville, and in 1962 made her debut in Madrid in 'El Duende'. In 1965 she performed at the Spanish pavilion of the New York World Fair, and enjoyed a one-month run of her show on Broadway. After a period of absence from the stage lasting a few years, she returned to dance in the late 1970s. In 1980 she joined the Spanish National Ballet company where she made a name for herself with her performance in 'Medea'. She founded her own company in 1984. She starred in 'The flower of my secret' by Pedro Almodóvar (1995). She died in Madrid in October 2007.
