Born in Barcelona in 1939. Over the course of his broad literary career, he has covered all types of genre, from the essay to the detective novel, passing through newspaper articles and poetry. Precisely as a poet it is that he becomes known in 1967 with the publication of the collection of poems, “Una educación sentimental”, which introduced him to the renovating poetry movement “Los nueve novísimos”. In 1974 appears the first of a series of detective fiction novels, “Tatuaje”, with Pepe Carvalho as protagonist, which would make these widely popular both nationally and internationally. Many of these novels have been made into films. In 1990, his novel “Galíndez” receives the National Narrative Literature Award. Five years later, he is awarded the National Spanish Literature Award. He died in 2003.
