Manuel Muñoz Alcón, known as Manolo Sanlúcar, was born in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz) in 1943. At the age of seven his father introduced him to the world of flamenco guitar. He studied with Javier Molina. He debuted in 1957 with Pepe Marchena's company in Campillos (Malaga). In 1972 he performed at the Atheneum in Madrid, where he definitively established himself as one of the greatest guitarists in the country. His style alternates between the purity of his roots and the avant-garde, in a permanent quest to integrate flamenco and symphony music. He has composed works for guitar and orchestra, such as 'Medea' for the Spanish National Ballet. He died in Jerez de la Frontera in 2022.
