" Architect and politician. His political activity influenced in his architectural posture, in the search of a Catalonian autonomous style."

Born in Barcelona in 1850, Lluís studied in his native city and completed his studies at the Architecture School of the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid. In 1875, he began his educational career at the School of Architecture in Barcelona, where he would later be named director. His first works were attributed to the Modernism of the Reinaxença, artistic movement of Catalonist exaltation and forerunner of European vanguard movements. Between 1905 and 1908, he projected the “Palau de la Música”, considered to be his best work. He was author of important buildings and private homes in Barcelona. His last work, carried out between 1915 and 1920, was the reform of the actual Montsió Convent in Barcelona. In addition to his architectural production, he also published professional treatises. He died in Barcelona in 1923.
