Leandre Cristófol i Peralba was born in Os de Balaguer (Lleida) in 1908. He worked as a cabinetmaker in Lleida. After studying at the city's School of Arts and Crafts, he moved to Barcelona to continue his education in the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts. After finishing his studies, he dedicated himself to woodcarving and took his first steps in working with iron. His first exhibition was held in 1935, and the following year he took part in the exhibition entitled 'Lógico-fobista' in Barcelona. Later, in 1938, his work was featured in surrealist exhibitions in Paris and Tokyo. He was a member of the group known as Amics de l'Art Nou (Adlan). Highlights of his work include 'Ralenti', 'Volumetrías', 'Situacions', 'Círculos móviles' and 'Planimetría'. In 1986 he exhibited at the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris and in 1987 at the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona. Another facet he cultivated was surrealist drawing. He died in Lleida in 1998.
