Julio Vidaurre Jofre was born in Madrid in 1926. In 1961 he graduated from the School of Architecture in Madrid, and subsequently went on to become a teacher in the same institution; first in the subject of Elements of Composition, and from 1974 as Professor of Drawing. He combined teaching with his work in architectural design. In 1964 he joined the technical office for School Buildings in the Ministry of Education and Science. In conjunction with José Manuel López Peláez, he presented a prototype for an education centre which earned them the joint distinction of the National Architecture Award in 1971. Following this same paradigm, they went on to create various school buildings such as the Ibi school-residence and the San Pío X public school (Majadahonda). He also worked in research, and published various books on mediaeval and Baroque architecture. He died in Madrid in 2004.
