"Spanish singer, businessman and ex-professional football player. According to information from the multinational Sony Music, Iglesias is one of the top ten best-selling recording artists in history.

Julio José Iglesias de la Cueva was born in Madrid in 1943. In his youth, he was drafted as a goalkeeper for the team Juvenil B of the Real Madrid Football Club, one of the lower category affiliate teams for Real Madrid. His athletic career was cut short by a traffic accident (1963). During his long recovery, he received a guitar as a gift and began writing his first songs. In 1968, he won the Benidorm International Song Festival with the song “La Vida Sigue Igual”, which would eventually head the lists of top sellers. From that point on, he has been among the public’s most preferred singers, with international sales greater than English speaking singers. He has sung with the best artists, from Plácido Domingo to Frank Sinatra.
