"Composer, writer and music theorist. He is one of Spain's foremost musicologists."

He was born in Villafranca del Penedés (Barcelona) in 1935 and trained with Rosa Lara in Spain, and with René Leibowitzy in Paris. He worked with Cristòfor Taltabull in Barcelona from 1960 until the latter died in 1964. He has composed 16 operas and many symphonies and concerts. His importance derives from his brilliant work as a teacher and his dedication to music studies. He has also published the following books, amongst others: 'Fuga. Técnica e Historia' (Barcelona, 1980); 'La Música' (Barcelona, 1982); 'Victoria' (Barcelona, 1983); 'Escritos sobre música y dos poemas' (Barcelona, 1994); and 'J. S. Bach una estructura del dolor, Música y ética' (Barcelona, 2003). In the catalogue of the Libros del Innombrable publishing house we can find: 'Otros escritos y poemas' (1999); 'Nuevos escritos y poemas' (2003); and 'Joan Cuscó y Josep Soler. De La tradición al oficio' (2003).
