" Tenor. From 1990 to 1994, along with Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, he starred in the successful tour of The Three Tenors group."

He was born in Barcelona in 1946. At the age of seven, he began to study at the Superior Municipal Conservatory, where he studied music theory, piano and singing. He debuted at the Grand Liceo Theatre in Barcelona when he was still a child, singing fragments of zarzuela (Spanish operetta) and opera. He shared the stage many times with Montserrat Caballé, which contributed to increasing the world fame that he enjoys today. A fruit of this international renown are his performances at the Metropolitan in New York, at the Convent Garden in London and at the Scala in Milan. He has become one of the favourite tenors of Herbert von Karajan. In 1987 he became severely ill, which kept him away from the stage for a time. After his recovery, he created the Foundation that is named after him.
