Born in Sanaüja (province of Llleida) in 1938, in his childhood his family moved home constantly, until in 1954 they moved to the Canary Islands. He studied architecture in Barcelona, and was professor of Structural Calculus at the Barcelona University’s Higher School of Architecture. His literary work began at the end of the 1950s. There was a break of ten years, after which he wrote “Crónica” with Joaquim Marco. In 1980 he changed Spanish for Catalan, although he is always considered a bilingual author. He then began a fruitful period in which his works in Catalan won numerous awards. In 2009 his work “Casa de Misericordia” obtained the National Literature Award from the Generalitat de Catalunya and the National Poetry Award from the Ministry of Culture. He died in Sant Just Desvern (province of Barcelona), in 2021.
