Javier Barroso Ladrón de Guevara was born in Madrid in 1929. He studied at the School of Architecture in Madrid, and graduated in 1960. He took his first steps in the profession in partnership with his fellow graduate Ángel Orbe Cano, with whom he designed the project for the El Pardo artists' residence –a homage to Velazquez– and which won the National Architecture Award. In 1968 he became the architect in charge of town planning for the Madrid Regional Government, where he undertook works such as the Cultural Centre in Colmenarejo and the refurbishment of the town hall in Hoyo de Manzanares. He also worked as a teacher in the field of Analysis of Form in the School of Architecture in Madrid. He died in Madrid in 1999.
