Born in Valls towards 1415, there is hardly any documentation on his early days. Some Aragonese works such as the Altarpiece of Cervera de Cañada and the magnificent ‘Saint Michael’ at the National Art Museum in Catalonia are attributed to the painter. Due to this, the widest belief points to his years of training and the start of his career being in Aragon. His work is unique thanks to the symbiosis between Italian Quattrocento realism and the preciosity of Flemish painting. This last feature came out further after he moved to Barcelona around 1448. Here he opened a flourishing painting workshop which received many commission, especially from associations and corporations. Many pupils and collaborators worked there. He died in Barcelona in 1492.
