"Film and theatre director. He has also written or collaborated in many screenplays of films that reveal the traditions and the evolution of individual behaviour."

Jaime Chávarri de la Mora was born in Madrid in 1943. He began as an amateur in the early 1960s. In 1974 he directed his first feature film solo, written by himself. He collaborated with Elías Querejeta as a producer and co-screenwriter. With "Las bicicletas son para el verano" (1983) he turned his career round and went from making independent films to commercial films. This film, as well as "The Things of Love" (1989), were a great box-office hit. He returned to theatre with "El baile" (1993). Alter the comedy "Gran Slalom" (1995) and the rock opera "Quo Vadis?" (1997), he filmed "Kisses for everyone" (2000), nominated for six Goyas, including one for the best director. "El año del diluvio" (2004) and "Camarón: When Flamenco Became Legend" (2005) were his next films.
