Jaime Martín was born in Santander (Cantabria) in 1965. He studied transverse flute with Antonio Arias in Madrid, to later specialise with Paul Verhey in The Hague (The Netherlands). His meticulous training enabled him to join the first group of young artists in the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE), and other groups such as the Galicia Symphony and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (London; first flute from 1997 to 2001). At this time, he played under the direction of illustrious music figures like Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, George Solti, Zubin Metcha and Neville Marriner. After his years as a player, he moved to conducting. As a conductor, he leads the orchestras of Los Angeles, Melbourne, Ireland and Gävle (Sweden), and is guest conductor of the Spanish National Orchestra. He also directed the opera "The Magic Flute" in El Escorial and in San Sebastian in 2012; and with the English National Opera, "The Barber of Seville" in 2013 and "The Marriage of Figaro" in 2014. In 2022, he won the National Music Award in the Performance category for his career.
