" Writer. His writing is considered to be one the best and most evocative in the literary context of new Spanish realism in the 1950s."

Born in Vitoria in 1925, he studied philosophy and humanities at Salamanca and Madrid, where he met other important authors form his generation such as Sánchez Ferlosio and Martín Gaite. His talent for writing can be clearly seen in his novels and short stories. Three of his four novels are part of an ambitious narrative project: the creation of three trilogies to respectively cover the theme of working at sea, working in the mines and the world of the civil guard, gypsies and bullfighters. The project would never be completed. Aldecoa was able to convert his experience of men into narrative material with a thirst for admirable objectivity and verism. He died in Madrid in 1969.
