Date of birth

"Theatre actor and director. He was one of the founder members of the Grupo Tábano, possibly one of the most spontaneous independent theatre groups of the time."

He was born in Madrid in 1952. He studied acting at the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Arts and Dance. Between 1970 and 1973 he was intensely involved in amateur activities in various neighbourhoods around Madrid with the group TCO. In 1974 he took part in the foundation of the Grupo Tábano, whose style represented a break with the traditional theatre of the time. He acted and directed the group from 1974 to 1983, the year in which it broke up. In 1984 he was named Director of the National Centre for New Performance Trends where he remained until 1993. Between 1995 and 1999 he served as vice-president of the Association of Stage Directors (ADE).
