He was born in Madrid in 1975. He studied with Carmen Roche and completed his training at the National Ballet School in Cuba under the direction of Alicia Alonso. He has worked with international companies such as the Leipziger Opera, the Staatstheater Weisbaden and the Royal Ballet of Flanders in his early career as a dancer and soloist. His first choreography was 'Square X 7', produced for the Deutsch Oper in Berlin. Other important works include 'Los campos magnéticos' (2001), '2x1' (2003), composed with his father, also a choreographer, and 'Vasos comunicantes' (2003). In 'Desde Otello' he voices his condemnation of gender violence in a fusion of dance and theatre for the Ballet of Carmen Roche. For Tamara Rojo he created the solo 'Ella es agua' ('She is water'), first performed at the closing ceremony of Expo Zaragoza 2008. He is currently director of the Staatstheater Ballet in Nuremberg.
