" Essayist and philosopher. He is one of the great students of the origin of Marxist doctrine."

He was born in Utiel, Valencia in 1950, and became a doctor of Philosophy and teacher at the Complutense University in Madrid. After finishing his studies, he moved to Paris, where he worked with the Marxist theorist, Louis Althusser. The influence of the French philosopher led him to focus his work on Marxism and the history of the 17th century. He has published several studies on the Spanish Jewish philosopher, Spinoza, who he considered to be one of the originators of Marxist doctrine. His essay, ‘The empty synagogue’ won the National Essay Prize in 1988. He has worked in several of the media, especially the newspaper, El Mundo, as part of the editorial board.
