Francisco Prieto-Moreno was born in Granada in 1907. He studied at the School of Architecture in Madrid and graduated in 1931. The following year he obtained a scholarship which allowed him to travel to Germany to continue his studies. In 1932 he worked in partnership with Alfredo Rodríguez Orgaz on the project for the Escuelas de Atarfe schools. He then went on to create other rationalist works such as the university hostel in Sierra Nevada (1933-1934) and the Citroën building (1935) in Granada. During this period he also published various articles in the journal 'Architecture', of which highlights include his historic study on the Albaicín quarter which appeared in 1933, written in conjunction with Pedro Bigador. In 1942 he was appointed director of the Alhambra, a post he occupied until 1970. Between 1946 and 1960 he was also at the head of the General Department of Architecture. He died in Almuñécar (Granada) in 1985.
