Federico García del Villar was born in Madrid in 1918. In 1946 he graduated from the School of Architecture. His professional career took place primarily in the public arena: in 1950 he began working as an architect in the Toledo office of the Ministry of the Treasury, and went on to occupy the post of Director of Urban Planning in the Housing Ministry. Between 1958 and 1967 he took part with other architects such as Luis Rodríguez Hernández, María Juana Ontañón and Manuel López Mateos in the project for the construction of the San Cristóbal de los Ángeles neighbourhood in the Villaverde district in Madrid. He retired in 1985, and died in Madrid in 1996.
