"Painter, sculptor and graphic artist. His work is part of the kinetic movement, of which he is one of Spain's leading representatives. "

He was born in Onil (Alicante) in 1923. After graduating from the San Carlos School of Fine Art in Valencia, he travelled to Paris in 1948, where he came into contact with artists such as Chillida, Braque and Vasarely, and his painting abandoned figuration to give way to more geometric works. His style is characterised by the use of pure colours on geometric forms against a black background. In 1959 he returned to Spain and became part of the Parpalló group. His work is on display in over 40 European and American museums. In 1978 he donated part of his work to the city of Alicante, where today pieces from all his different periods can be seen. In 1983 he received the Príncipe de Asturias Award for the Arts. He died in Onil in 1985.
