He was born in Madrid in 1853. He completed his studies in San Isidro high school and immediately began a career in journalism at the offices of 'La Iberia', which he later went on to run. His political commentary in 'Blanco y Negro' and 'La Vanguardia' enjoyed widespread popularity with the public. He was twice member of parliament for the Liberal party (1881 and 1886), as well as senator. In the public administration he worked as sub-secretary for the Minister of the Interior. His most important works include the libretto for 'El tambor de granaderos', a comic zarzuela in one act and three scenes, with music by Maestro Ruperto Chapí. He died in Madrid on November 16, 1935.
