"Pianist, composer and teacher. She has made a notable contribution to Spanish musical life in a variety of fields and helped its promotion and internationalisation."

She was born in Seville in 1973, the daughter of architect Rafael Mendoza Castell, who received the I National Restoration Award. She studied German philology in her home town and piano and composition at the Higher Conservatory of Music in Zaragoza, where she later taught. She continued her studies in Germany at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf and in the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlín. Her works are mainly instrumental chamber music, and have been performed by a variety of German groups. She is the first woman to receive the National Music Award (2010) for Composition. She currently lives in Berlin.
