"Flamenco dancer and choreographer. She has her own dance company, with whom she has toured some of the world's top venues."

She was born in Seville in 1946 and began dancing as a little girl. Her first teachers were Adelita Domingo, Enrique el Cojo and Manuela Vargas. She made her debut at the theatre in the Spanish Pavilion in the 1964 Exhibition in New York, as a member of the company of Antonio Gades. She performed with Gades for over 20 years. Their fruitful partnership gave rise to masterpieces such as 'Blood wedding', 'Carmen' and 'Love, the magician', all directed by Carlos Saura. In 1988 she set up her own company, and the following year premiered in the Théatre le Rex in Paris. Since then her career has been one long list of successes and awards.
