"Choreographer and dancer. The creation of personal and unique language in the dance sector led to him winning a National Dance Award in the Creativity category."

He was born in Cordoba in 1976. He trained in flamenco, Spanish dance and classical ballet in his birth city. In 1992, he moved to Madrid to study at the Víctor Ullate School and two years later he became part of the Víctor Ullate Ballet where he became principal dancer, performing works from the classical and neo-classical repertoire. In 2001, he started to work in the Grand Théâtre de Genève Ballet and the Opéra de Lyon Ballet. He returned to Spain to join the National Dance Company under the direction of Nacho Duato, in 2006. His first two works, “1Calvario” and “Cebolla nf ognion n”, were performed at the Young Ballet Choreographer Event at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Since 2007 he has been developing an interesting creative relationship with the Sasha Waltz&Guests company, participating as a dancer and choreographer for several creations and productions by the company and as assistance choreographer for the works “Sacre” and “Orfeo”. In 2009, Ruz created his own dance company which he has used to present his work in Europe, Africa and South America. He has also used it to develop his theatrical style, combining it with his particular musical vision, often live, up to the modern day. He was recently the director and choreographer of the show “Electra” for the Spanish National Ballet, which premiered at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid.
