"Poet. He is one of the most outstanding poets of the so-called Generation of 50. He stands out for his use of colloquial language tinged with bitter sarcasm."

Born in Oviedo in 1925, his family was forever marker by the Civil War: the murder of one of his brothers, the exile of another and his sister banned from teaching conditioned not only his life but also his poetic work. He published his first poetry collection Áspero mundo in 1956, winning second place in the Adonais Prize. He moved to New Mexico (U.S.A.) in 1972 to dedicate himself to teaching. Despite his frequent visits to Spain, he remained in the U.S. until he retired in 1993. His work combines social criticism with moral condemnation tinged with an intimate satirical tone. He died in Madrid in 2008.
