Born in Madrid in 1975, at the age of ten his parents signed him up at Víctor Ullate’s school. Still very young, he won the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris. In 1995 he joined the American Ballet Theatre in New York. A year later, he was already its principal artist. International critical and public fame came to him at a very young age. He alternated his work as the top star at the American Theatre with performances as guest artist at prestigious companies such as the Royal Ballet in London and the Ballet de la Scala in Milan. In 2001, he founded the Ángel Corella Foundation with his dancer sister Carmen Corella to teach promising youngsters. In 2008, he was named artistic director of the company Corella Ballet Castilla y León. In 2012, the company changed its headquarters and its name, and became known as the Barcelona Ballet.
