" Journalist and writer. He wrote a major work that stands out for its erudition and enormous fantasy. He is one of Galician literature’s great writers."

Born in Mondoñedo (Lugo) in 1911, in his early years as an undergraduate in Santiago de Compostela he wrote many poems and articles for major Galician publications. He moved to Madrid in 1939 to work on the staff of the daily paper ‘ABC’. After working with pro-Franco media for a while, he had his press card withdrawn and had to return to Galicia. He was editor of the paper ‘Faro de Vigo’ between 1965 and 1970 and cultivated all genres: poetry, theatre, criticism, narrative, etc. in both Galician and Spanish. His works stands out for his enormous erudition and for the masterful combination of reality and fantasy (mixing legendary storytelling with Galician traditions). He died in Vigo in 1981.
