Born in Elche (Alicante) in 1940, he studied dramatic arts and stage direction at the Theatre Institute in Barcelona. He premièred his first work Aquella risa in 1962. He founded the Cátaro Group, a clear example of independent theatre in the 1960s. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Madrid, leading to a turning point in his theatre career. He sought out his own dramatic identity outside the Cátaro Group. In Madrid he worked with major figures such as Adolfo Marsillach. Throughout his career he wrote many works for theatre, essays and critical texts, receiving many awards. He died in Madrid on 2nd March 2004.
