He was born in Villalba (Lugo) in 1947, and graduated in Education. He has taught in several schools. Apart from teaching, he has worked hard towards educational reform: he was a member of the Study Group for Educational Reform and Teaching Coordinator for the Galician language. Although he is best-known for his literary output, he has also written several works on education, mainly dealing with standardising Galician in schools, which have been published in various specialist journals. His work has also been translated into numerous languages.
